I almost didn’t go to RootsTech 2019, based on my previous year’s experience of not being wowed by the 2018 event. It was OK, but I’m a homebody and I need a lot of motivation to travel. I’ll travel for a family wedding or funeral, or to go to a DNA conference or institute that I know will have must-have information for me.
I had invited my sister-in-law to go to RootsTech with us some time ago, though, and when she said that she and my brother-in-law were in, we were also in.
You guys, we accidentally rented a vacation rental condo with a literal skeleton in the corner of our bedroom, with a skeletal hand casually draped on the dresser! I would show you a photo to prove it, but it was so dark in that corner, it didn’t show well in photos.
This was not a cute, warm-fuzzy-feeling Day of the Dead “Coco” movie skeleton, but one that made you wonder if there were hidden cameras
We didn’t spend much time there, though, as we were at the Salt Palace from breakfast till bedtime, taking in all the classes and the expo hall and meeting new people, Some of them were 3rd to 6th cousins.
I highly recommend RootsTech now. This year the experience was fantastic! No long lines for classes and no having to leave a classroom to get in line to reenter and be counted. I won’t miss another RootsTech! I’d love to go to RootsTech London – maybe in 2022…
